An open mind isn't necessarily a changed mind

So I'm in this long distance relationship and I have been since September 2006. I have always caught flack from those around me about being in a long distance relationship. Now I consider myself an open minded person so I do my best not to judge people or their situations. I accept people and their choice of lifestyle without judgment or criticism. Now I never ask for people to understand my relationship because often times you can't understand what you know nothing about. But is it too much to ask from people that they respect the fact that you are capable of making smart decisions and respect that their definition of love is not the same as my own. My boundaries and those of others around me are never the same. So don't criticize my choices because they don't mirror your own. And certainly don't pass judgment against me, because with all the fucked up shit you yourself have done, I never passed judgments against you. Just because you can't or wouldn't make the choices I make doesn't mean you can't agree to disagree...an open mind to something beyond your comfort zone isn't a changed mind...
